We start at  El Retiro at 7.30. We put in at Tamax ferry, an hour from Lanquin. After a complete safety instruction we descend the lower Cahabón through beautiful tropical scenery, watching nice birds and boating some continious class 3 rapids in the Oxec Gorge.
		Then a tasty lunch. We continue for another 2 hours with bigger challenging rapids to reach the take-out at Katinko village before Chulac Falls, a necessary class 6 portage, at Katinko village where we put up camp. A great spot on the riverside where we have fire a nice filling dinner and time to relax. Next day after breakfast we run the class 4  ´Lower Gorge´  of the Cahabón.  A beautiful gorge with pumping water, furthermore a beautiful day with pools, cave formations and a natural jacuzzi, a thermal sidestream, called ´Little Paraiso´. At midday we arrive at the bridge of Cahabóncito, our take-out from where we transport you back to Lanquin, a breathtaking ride through the highlands of Alta Verapaz and its inhabitants. Amazing!
